Safety
Is Pattaya safe, or is it dangerous?
Short answer
For most visitors, yes, with sensible care.
No government we checked warns against travel to Pattaya: the US rates Thailand at its lowest level, "exercise normal precautions". Australia and Canada advise "a high degree of caution" for Thailand as a whole. For Pattaya they name drink spiking and assaults in night-time entertainment areas; for Thailand as a whole, petty theft and scams in tourist spots.

- Night-time entertainment areas: Australia advises extra care in Bangkok's, Pattaya's and Phuket's, where sexual assault, assault and robbery have happened.2
