How much is a baht bus in Pattaya?
Short answer
15 baht for most trips.
Since 10 April 2026 a shared ride on a Pattaya baht bus (songthaew) costs 15 baht for 1 to 10 km and up to 20 baht for longer routes, up from 10 baht, as the drivers' cooperative announced and the news reported. Hiring a whole truck for yourself is not covered by the 15-baht fare; agree a price first (we found no source on charter prices). The rise was announced by the chairman of the drivers' cooperative and ended a fare that had stayed at 10 baht for more than 30 years (news).1 Thailand's Ministry of Commerce lists songthaew fares among the public-transport fares that pushed up national consumer prices in August 2026.3
We found no official fare notice from Pattaya City or the Department of Land Transport, so these fares rest on news reports. Ask the driver if you're unsure.
Shared ride or hired truck
The 15-baht fare is for a shared ride on the truck's route. Asking the driver to take you somewhere on your own turns it into a hired truck at a price you agree first; we found no published rate for that.
If you're overcharged
In July 2026 a driver who charged a passenger 300 baht was suspended by the drivers' cooperative, which acted with the Department of Land Transport (news).2 Note the truck's number. The Department of Land Transport's call centre is 1584.4
