Key facts
Before you go
Check
- Prepare the insulated carrier before shopping.
- Buy chilled and frozen items last and keep their storage categories separate.
- Go directly to functioning cold storage without unrelated stops.
- Do not turn WHO's cooked-food two-hour ceiling into a guaranteed Pattaya transport time for every product.
- Do not infer continuous refrigeration from appearance or delivery completion.
Avoid
- Treating frozen food as if ordinary chilled storage is equivalent.
- Assuming an insulated bag maintains a safe temperature without measurement.
- Adding unrelated stops after buying perishable food.
- Applying WHO's cooked-food two-hour ceiling to every product or calling it a Thai transport allowance.
- Using appearance as proof of the product's temperature history.
Use a cold-trip sequence
Prepare an insulated carrier before shopping, collect ambient goods first, pick up chilled and frozen items last, and go directly to reliable cold storage. This sequence reduces the uncontrolled warm part of the trip; it does not prove that a product stayed at the required temperature.
Do not add a meal, beach stop or unrelated errand after buying perishables. If the route or wait becomes longer than planned, an insulated bag without a measured temperature is still only a precaution.
Distinguish chilled from frozen
Thai Department of Health material for supermarkets, minimarts and grocery stores uses below 5°C for fresh meat and pasteurized milk or dairy and below -18°C for frozen foods such as ice cream. Frozen is therefore not just another chilled category.
Keep frozen products separated from warm goods and use appropriate cold material for the trip. The premises thresholds do not establish how long a consumer carrier will maintain them, so do not convert them into a guaranteed number of Pattaya traffic minutes.
Keep the time rule in its source scope
WHO summer guidance says to refrigerate cooked and perishable food promptly, preferably below 5°C. Its two-hour room-temperature ceiling is stated for cooked food; it is not a promise that every item remains safe until the final minute.
Thailand's Department of Health independently uses no more than 5°C for fresh meat and prepared or cooked food bought to eat but not eaten immediately. Its separate hot-season reference to reheating prepared food after more than two hours is not a Thai consumer transport allowance.
Treat delivery and prior handling as unknown
Arrival at the address does not prove continuous refrigeration. This page cannot establish the product's starting temperature, time before pickup, packaging performance, vehicle conditions or any wait outside the building.
Appearance is not a temperature log. If the cold history is unknown, keep it unknown rather than using this article to certify the item, the seller, a delivery service or a particular carrier.
Return food to the right storage promptly
Move chilled and frozen goods into functioning storage as soon as the trip ends. Keep them in the category required by the product rather than placing frozen food in ordinary chilled storage and assuming it remained frozen.
