Thai and foreign individuals can be protected depositors for eligible Thai-baht deposits at institutions covered by Thailand's Deposit Protection Agency. Use the Bank of Thailand's current authorized-money-changer lookup and match the exact legal entity shown there to the business in front of you. An authorized money changer is a licensed non-bank company permitted to buy and sell foreign banknotes. A registry match does not confirm a particular storefront, opening hours, available currencies, cash stock, exchange rate or whether a transaction will be accepted.

How can you verify a Thai insurance agent or broker?

Use the Office of Insurance Commission's official service portal to check the exact agent or broker name, licence number and licence type. The portal includes lookups for individual agents and brokers, corporate brokers and revoked status. Check both the positive licence record and revoked information. A match does not prove that a policy is genuine, active, paid, suitable or covered. The separate OIC complaint portal currently asks users to authenticate through ThaiD or LINE, but its page does not explain whether every foreign visitor can complete those steps.

What should a visitor do with a suspected counterfeit Thai banknote?

Do not spend, exchange or pass on a Thai banknote you suspect is counterfeit. The Bank of Thailand says using counterfeit notes is illegal and directs people to notify police immediately, take the note to the nearest police station, or contact the Bank of Thailand through its listed banknote channels. Keep calling it suspected until an authority examines it, and do not confront or pursue the person who gave it to you.
